The opposition to the drastic budget cuts to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) contained in the 2015 spending bill is widespread and continues to grow. Several notable columnists and most recently a major editorial board have echoed NTEU’s warning that slashing the IRS budget year after year hurts the country.

The latest outlet to sound off against the IRS cuts is USA Today’s editorial board, which asserted that the cuts will cause service to deteriorate and reduce the agency’s anti-identify theft capabilities.

National Journal headline stated that “Slashing IRS Budget Carries a Heavy Price.” Forbes called the budget cuts “a cynical recipe for a self-fulfilling disaster.” CNNMoney.com warned “Miserable' tax season could be worst in years.” And, a Washington Post columnist said Congress is “crippling the agency that can help pay our bills.”
